The team at Alston Surgery moved quickly to be able to help and treat patients safely from the beginning of the Coronavirus crisis in the spring.
Practice Manager, Tania Rymer has worked closely with the Alston Moor Emergency Response Group and Alston Essential to set up new ways of getting medicines to all the patients who suddenly found themselves unable to come to the surgery to collect them.
The staff have also devised social distancing measures to protect patients. A lot of appointments which would previously happened face to face have taken place over the phone. By using masks and personal protective equipment, everyone who really needs to see a doctor has been able to do so.
Some members of staff have been having to shield and have been unable to work. Tania says “ I am really proud of how hard the remaining staff have worked to make sure the service has been maintained and vulnerable staff protected”.
