North Pennines AONB and Visit Eden statements

You can see the messaging that these bodies are putting out to potential visitors on their respective websites:

Guy Harmer (Cumberland Inn) from our AMBA Committee is setting up an Accommodation Forum for local businesses in the visitor accommodation sector. Part of that Forum's remit is to work with accommodation providers to get the Alston Moor community and visitor messaging right in preparation for when we are allowed to welcome visitors back to stay on Alston Moor. If you're in that sector and haven't joined that Forum yet, just drop Guy an email at guy@cumberlandinalston.com if you're interested.

Top-up to local business grant funds scheme

I mentioned this scheme in my email of 10 May. The Government guidance for local authorities has now been published:

It lays a lot of discretion to local authorities, so we will need to wait for Eden DC to publish their own guidance and prioritisation criteria. Keep an eye on their website, which has now been developed to cover a whole range of useful business support resources:

Cumbria Tourism

Here's their update from yesterday. As you'll see, they're one of just two Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) invited to contribute to the National Tourism Industry Emergency Response group. That's good because when they ask us for input via surveys etc. it means that our feedback is directly informing their input to this work:

Government Taskforces

New ministerial-led taskforces have been set up to plan how closed sectors can reopen safely. At a guess, the Recreation and Leisure Taskforce could be the work that Cumbria Tourism refer to in their update; I shall try to confirm that:
