Westmorland and Furness Council's Cabinet, meeting in closed session on Tuesday 21 April, resolved to launch a twelve-week public consultation on the future of Grisedale Croft alongside one other home elsewhere in the authority. The Council has stated that its preferred option is to find an alternative building in the local area, but no replacement has been identified, no funding has been confirmed, and no timeline has been published.
The Parish Council's view is that this proposal cannot be taken in isolation from the 2018 NHS-and-Council settlement that followed the closure of in-patient beds at the Ruth Lancaster James Cottage Hospital. That argument is being put on the record, and the Working Group is now preparing the formal response to the consultation.
